Welcome to Eagan, Minnesota!
If you’re looking for a place where weekends are full, the parks are everywhere, and neighbors actually wave, let me introduce you to Eagan. It’s home to roughly 67,000 Eaganites, and it sits about 10 miles from Minneapolis and 12 from St. Paul. You’re also only about 10 minutes from the MSP airport. You get big-city access with a true hometown feel, and I love showing people around.
Get Outside, Any Season
Eagan has 60 city parks, so there’s always a playground, trail, or ballfield close by. The crown jewel is Lebanon Hills Regional Park, nearly 2,000 acres of woods and lakes with a visitor center, campground, and swimming beach. Admission and parking are free. In winter, the trails turn into cross-country skiing and snowshoeing paths.
When it’s hot, head to Cascade Bay Waterpark for slides, a lazy river, and mini golf. Prefer art with your fresh air? Caponi Art Park blends sculpture and nature every May through October.
A Community That Loves to Celebrate
Eagan knows how to show up for each other. Our calendar includes:
- Eagan Art Festival every June at the Festival Grounds
- Eagan Market Fest, free summer evenings of art, music, and activities
- Eagan Funfest and fireworks around the Fourth of July
- A free Juneteenth celebration at Viking Lakes Plaza
- Holz Farm, a National Register of Historic Places farmstead with seasonal festivals. Its free Old Fashioned Holiday is coming up in early December.
- The Holiday Craft and Gift Show at the Eagan Community Center, early December
The city’s rebuilt Eagan Art House, a creative hub for classes and community gatherings, helped Eagan earn the League of Minnesota Cities’ 2026 Sustainable City Award. Pretty cool, right?
Skol! Welcome to Viking Lakes
Eagan is home base for the Minnesota Vikings. Viking Lakes is a growing neighborhood of trails, wetlands, dining, and entertainment around the team’s headquarters and the Vikings Museum. Fans can catch training camp action in late July and early August. The Omni Viking Lakes Hotel is here too, with Kyndred Hearth from James Beard award-winning chef Ann Kim. Need a shopping fix? Twin Cities Premium Outlets are right in town.
